What Is the ISDE Grant?

The ISDE grant (Investment Grant for Sustainable Energy and Energy Savings) is a Dutch government scheme that helps homeowners and small-scale landlords make their properties more energy-efficient. The grant is available for measures such as:

  • Insulating walls, roofs, floors, and installing energy-efficient glazing (HR++ glass).
  • Installing sustainable heating systems, such as heat pumps and solar water heaters.

With this scheme, you can improve your home’s energy efficiency and comfort while reducing your energy bills.

Key changes to insulation grants in 2026

The ISDE scheme was updated on 1 January 2026. The grant amounts for insulation measures remain unchanged compared with 2025. The Dutch government has not increased or reduced the grant amounts per square metre for insulation in 2026.

The changes mainly relate to the eligibility requirements and how the scheme can be applied, without affecting the amount of grant funding available.

Grant amounts for insulation

The same grant amounts continue to apply to insulation measures in 2026, including:

Combining multiple insulation measures will continue to qualify you for additional grant funding.

Bio-based insulation

The additional grant for bio-based insulation materials will also remain available in 2026. The way in which these materials are assessed has been adjusted, but in practice, nothing will change for homeowners. Materials that were previously eligible will, in most cases, continue to qualify.

Crawl space insulation

The eligibility requirements for crawl space insulation have been broadened. This makes it easier to include this measure under the ISDE scheme, without changing the amount of grant funding available.

Insulating glass and window frames

More flexible requirements will apply to window frames when installing insulating glass in 2026. Window frames will no longer be required to meet a minimum insulation value. The grant conditions for the glass itself remain unchanged.

Owners of listed and historic properties will also be able to apply for a grant towards secondary glazing installed either internally or externally in 2026.

What does this mean for you?

  • Grant amounts for insulation will remain the same in 2026
  • Combining insulation measures will continue to offer an attractive financial benefit
  • Bio-based insulation will continue to qualify for additional grant funding
  • Several requirements have been relaxed without affecting the grant amounts

If you qualify for an ISDE grant, the amount you receive will depend on the type of measure, the number of measures you have installed and the type of insulation material used. You may receive an additional grant if you choose bio-based insulation materials. Below, you will find an overview of the various insulation measures and the corresponding grant amounts. Please visit the RVO website for the additional eligibility requirements.

Apply twice for an insulating glass grant

In 2026, it will remain possible to apply twice for an insulating glass grant within a 24-month period. This gives you the flexibility to replace your glazing in stages, for example one floor or room at a time.

Lower minimum surface area for insulating glass

The reduced minimum surface area for insulating glass grants will also remain in place in 2026. You can apply for a grant from as little as 3 m² of insulating glass, making the scheme accessible to smaller homes and properties with a limited glazed area.

Minimum and maximum surface areas for insulation measures

Fixed surface area limits will continue to apply to insulation measures combined under the ISDE scheme in 2026:

  • Insulating glass has a minimum surface area of 3 m²
  • Roof and loft floor insulation have a maximum surface area of 200 m²
  • Floor and crawl space insulation have a maximum surface area of 130 m²

*Please note: These types of insulation may not be installed directly above one another, but they may be installed in different areas of the property, for example.

Grant eligibility requirements in 2026

The main eligibility requirements for the ISDE grant remain largely unchanged:

  • The grant is only available for a property that you own.
  • The insulation work must be carried out by a certified company, such as Pluimers Insulation.
  • The insulation value, such as the Rd value for insulation and the U-value for glazing, must meet the minimum requirements. All our products meet these requirements.
  • You have 24 months from the date the work is completed to apply for the grant. Make sure you collect the required evidence in good time, including invoices and photographs of the completed measures.

How do you apply for the 2026 ISDE grant?

Once the energy-efficiency measures have been completed, you have 24 months to apply for the grant through the website of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). You will need an invoice as evidence of the completed work, including specific details such as the insulated surface area. You must also provide photographs of the installation work, clearly showing the house number, as well as proof of payment.
