On the roof along Cruquiusweg, three former steel wine silos will form striking features within a green rooftop landscape. Preserved as icons of the island’s industrial history, they are being given a new lease of life as elevated homes. The development also includes 86 homes for first-time buyers, offering both privacy and attractive views across the harbour.
The former wine terminal, home to The Harbour Club, has been transformed into a unique place to live. The Harbour Club remains at the heart of the development, surrounded by a striking new waterfront landmark featuring three unique silo villas on the roof and five live-work properties on Wijnsilostraat. Construction was completed at the end of 2021.
The three former steel wine silos, which have been reinstated on the roof, are a striking feature of the development. The wine silos in Amsterdam are being transformed into three unique silo villas, each with three floors and approximately 152 m² of living space. The roof terraces, finished with timber decking, range from approximately 99 to 118 m² and feature moss and sedum planting along the edges. The terraces also offer impressive views over the water. To provide additional privacy, permanent planters will be installed along the boundaries between neighbouring properties. The entrance floor features a spacious kitchen-diner, a toilet and an additional room that can be used as a study or guest bedroom. The living room is located on the first floor, while the second floor comprises two bedrooms, a bathroom and a utility area. Prices for the silo villas start from approximately €1,250,000.
These wine silos are part of the Cruquius 1.4 development in Amsterdam. Cruquius 1.4 is designed as a mixed-use development where residential, commercial and hospitality spaces come together in a dynamic waterfront location at Entrepothaven. The development consists of an L-shaped, six-storey building constructed alongside THC (The Harbour Club). Part of the building extends approximately five metres over THC, with balconies attached to the projecting structure. A total of 89 homes are being created.
