Nature-Inclusive Insulation (NII) means that we carry out insulation work with careful consideration for wildlife and the natural environment. This not only ensures compliance with environmental legislation but also helps preserve biodiversity in your local area.
Since 7 March 2025, the eDNA survey method has been officially recognised by the Dutch Government and included in environmental legislation (Environment Regulation) as an approved method for detecting bats. This innovative technique enables the rapid and highly accurate detection of bat DNA within cavity walls. DNA traces, such as hair, skin cells or droppings, are collected from openings in the façade using a sponge or roller. These samples are then analysed in a specialised laboratory, resulting in either a positive or negative test result:

In some municipalities, a Species Management Plan (SMP) or pre-SMP is already in place. A Species Management Plan is an ecological strategy in which protective measures for vulnerable wildlife species have been implemented in advance.
If an SMP applies, the outcome of an eDNA survey cannot be used as the basis for insulation work, and the property must be insulated in accordance with the Nature-Inclusive Insulation (NII) protocol. In some cases, prior approval from the municipality may also be required.
Where a pre-SMP applies, an eDNA survey is permitted. If the result is negative, insulation work may begin immediately. If the result is positive, the property must be insulated according to the Nature-Inclusive Insulation protocol.
